Aubrey Drake was born on 24 October 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of an African American father and a white Jewish Canadian mother. He was raised by his mother after his parents were divorced. He was just five years old at the time of the separation of his parents. He moved along with his mother to the neighborhood of Forest Hill, where he attended the Forest Hill Public School and then the Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. He started acting from his high school days. He occasionally went to visit his father living in Memphis and spent his summer vacations many times with him.

He has acted in ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation‘ as “Jimmy Brooks”. He is a rapper and uses the stage name Drake.

He won the Young Artist Award in 2002 for the Best Ensemble in a TV Series for ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’, and he was nominated for this award in the same category in 2003. He earned the nomination for the same award in two categories - Outstanding Young Performers in a TV Series for ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ and for the Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Supporting Young Actor for the same series in 2005.
